Aide alimentaire — banques alimentaires et Restos du Cœur

What is this for

Steps to follow

  1. Step 1: Restos du Cœur

Restos du Cœur gives out free food parcels all year round. For parcels, you register each year at a centre and show that your income is low. Hot meals and street outreach are open with no income condition. About 1.3 million people are helped each year.

  2. Step 2: Food banks (Banques Alimentaires)

Food banks collect food and pass it on through a network of partner associations. Ask your town hall or CCAS (local social services) to find the nearest distribution point.

  3. Step 3: Secours Populaire Français

Community grocery shops, food parcels, clothing. Present in every département. Contact your local branch or go there directly.

  4. Step 4: Social and community grocery shops

Social grocery shops let you buy products at much lower prices. Access depends on your income and often goes through a social worker, for example at the CCAS.

  5. Step 5: CCAS and social workers

If you are in urgent difficulty, the CCAS (local social action centre) at your town hall or a social worker can direct you to food aid in your area.
